Acer palmatum

Acer palmatum (Japanese Maple) is a highly popular tree and it’s easy to see why. This slow-growing tree can be planted in any garden soil and makes a wonderful feature in your garden, whilst still being low maintenance. Due to its small size it will be perfectly happy in a large container so if you only have a small garden or balcony you have no excuse not to grow one! Whilst it is fully hardy, it does prefer some shelter from harsh winters. Position it in a partially shaded but sheltered location and it will reward you with delicate purple foliage.
