A strong-growing, dense, rounded, deciduous shrub of medium-size which produces extremely fragrant magnolia-like flowers with white strap-like petals in May, which continues to bloom intermittently throughout summer and into autumn. Each flower has contrasting purple and yellow centre markings. Calycanthus ‘Venus’ produces elliptic to ovate, glossy, mid-green leaves which turn golden-yellow to brownish in autumn.
