A popular variety which has been awarded an RHS AGM for its excellent garden performance. Liquidambar styraciflua ‘Lane Roberts’ makes a fine specimen tree. It is at its best in autumn when the deciduous, maple-like foliage becomes a tapestry of crimson, scarlet, mahogany, and almost purple-black.
